Frequently Asked Questions

Acts of God, such as wind and hail, do not affect your personal rates or insurability.

Your only out-of pocket expense will be your deductible. Your deductible is the portion of your claim that is not covered by your insurance company. In some cases, the deductible for a wind or hail claim may be different than the deductible for other types of claims. You may want to check your policy or call your agent to find out.

No, it is actually illegal for a roofing contractor to cover a homeowner’s deductible. However, actual cash value funds paid by your insurance company for repairs that you do not complete, can be used to help off-set your deductible.

There is no need to request or obtain three different bids. Most times your insurance company will only approve the cheapest bid, causing you to end up with less. Diamond Exteriors will work directly with your insurance company to make sure that ALL the damaged items (roof, gutters, paint, etc.) at your property are accounted for and that the funds approved are at fair market value.

No. These “preferred” contractors often put the interest of their ongoing relationship with an insurance provider ahead of their relationship with the property owner. Preferred contractors are known for cutting corners and overlooking damaged items, in an effort to save the insurance companies money rather than providing the homeowner with quality repairs.

If your mortgage company is listed as a payee on the check, it will need to be endorsed by them. We at Diamond Exteriors often assist our customers in receiving this endorsement by mailing the check certified to the mortgage company along with all the required paperwork. This process of obtaining an endorsement often can take weeks and we will work on this as soon as you receive the check from your insurance company.

No. Diamond Exteriors will review your initial adjustment and provide a supplemental estimate, if needed, to your insurance company and will work with them in acquiring an approval. As well, there are some items that are not paid for by the insurance companies until such time that the contractor provides an invoice and a receipt, such as permit fees.

Diamond Exteriors will review your initial adjustment and provide a supplemental estimate to your insurance company and will work with them in acquiring an approval. If necessary Diamond Exteriors will meet an insurance adjuster for a reinspection or assist you with hiring an appraiser or a public adjuster.

If you have an RCV policy, your insurance company most likely will hold back depreciation. Depreciation is the amount of your settlement that is not paid unless or until the repairs to your home are completed and invoiced for by your contractor. If you use a contractor that provided you with a cheaper bid, the insurance company will only pay out the amount invoiced for less the first check and your deductible and they will keep the remaining funds previously approved. This is why using the cheapest contractor only saves the insurance company money and does not put money into your pocket nor necessarily provide you with the top quality repairs.

Diamond Exteriors does not require you to have HOA approval. However, most neighborhoods with HOAs do require approval for roofing, siding and/or paint.
